The desire is there. No doubt about that. You've wanted to learn to play guitar for a very long time. You may have even dreamt of being a rock star when you were younger.
As you think about learning to play guitar something inside keeps reminding you that it will more than likely take too long and will be much too difficult to do. It seems that it is now too late to even try.

This is something that I hear a lot of people saying these days. That somehow they are too old to learn to play guitar. That somehow they are out of time to even try. They have bought in to the myth that it takes a very long time to learn to play guitar.
Why is that the case? Well many people have tried to learn in some way or another and not made progress or faced challenges they could not figure out how to overcome. Or they know someone that has experienced this.
Most people have also heard about the self-taught guitar player who needed many years of intense practicing for hours and hours every day in order to learn to play guitar well.
So it must take a lot of time to learn to play guitar right?

Well, if you want to be a professional guitar player and play on stage in front of thousands of people and make a lot of money doing so, it may be too late for that.
If you want to be able to play extremely fast and rip up and down guitar neck in a blaze of glory, sure, that may not be possible once you get to a certain age either.
But what if you want to be able to play guitar in a way that makes you feel good about it? What if you just want to learn to play some of your favorite songs or to be able to play along with friends? What if you want to exercise your brain fully and help keep yourself sharp in your later years? Is it really too late for that?
It Depends How You Go About it
It is absolutely NOT too late. There is no reason why you can¿t learn how to play guitar well enough to impress yourself, your family and your friends. It does not have to take years to achieve this. It can be done much quicker than that and you can have a lot of fun doing it too.
Now, there are many ways to learn to play guitar today and not all of them will get you quick results. Thanks to the Internet anyone and everyone can put materials, songs, videos, etc online. There are books and DVDs and many other ways that you could use to try and learn to play guitar.
If you want to save time, money and frustration and learn to play guitar quickly then the solution is to find a great teacher. One who will create a personalized plan for you, who will lead you around all of the pitfalls and who is trained to get the most progress and results in the least amount of time.

When it is getting later in the game for us, we need to redeem the time and get things moving faster. Make sure that when you find that teacher that they will recommend that you take as many lessons per week as you are able to. That way you can make up for lost time and get really good as fast as you possibly can.
